An Ottoman style boutique hotel, the POEM was designed in the style of traditional Ottoman urban residences and constructed in the late nineteeth century. Carefully restored in 1992, the hotel takes its name from the examples of Turkish poetry that are scattered around the property; used instead of room numbers and they offer insight into the local culture. It is centrally situated at the middle of Old Sultanahmet district, only a five minute walk from historical sites such as the Blue Mosque, Topkap Palace, Hagia Sophia, Underground Cistern, Turkish Islamic Art Museum,the HippodRome and Grand Bazaar. The Hotel offers a daily shuttle service to airport ( not included,extra charge). POEM’s 17 rooms are tastefully furnished rooms and airconditioned. The POEM’s individual position and its efficient staff enable every visitor to enjoy a great selection of rewarding experiences with a minimum of inconvenience. Begin the day with a bountiful breakfast on the terrace, shaded near walnut and fig trees, in the breakfast room, or in the privacy of the visitor’s own room. Then up winding stairs to the roomy roofgrounds, the varied attractions of Istanbul appear: - To the north, a few blocks away ; the Blue mosque and Hagia Sophia; - Just beyond, Topkap Palace and the Archeological Museum; - The Grand Bazaar lies barely 10 few minutes walk away - To the South, the ceasele traffic on the sea of Marmara flows back and forth between the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles; Every Wednesday the street just outside the POEM provides a glimpse into everyday Turkish life when vendors set up stalls to sell fruit, vegetables,tea, spices, and numerous other things. Travel to nearbynear highlights, such as historic Troy, Ephesus and Cappodicia, and to any other part of Turkey can quickly be organised. The tastefully furnished rooms offer serenity and unwindation, and enjoy either sea or grounds views. A stay at the POEM can be a rewarding cultural experience.
