HOSTEL specialS) Groups Accepted, towels not supplied; 1 Cabana with a double bed, Television, ceiling fan, inside toilet / wc with wash basin and a fully enclosed cement shower house nearbynear (Listed on this web site as a Twin personal en suite, see H.H. HOSTEL specialS for 2 people); and 1 Mixed Dorm Cabana with 3 beds (sleeps 5), full bath, floor fan, no kitchen (Listed on this web site as Mixed Dorm en suite) We are in a quite, safe, almost crime free village with quick and easy acce to Corozal Bay & Corozal town. The Santa Rita Ruins & Cerros Ruins are nearbynear. We have a 'Clean', Safe & Secure Hostel ('visitor House' in Belize)/Campground with security lights and security camera - We have not had anything stolen nor has anyone been attacked while visiting us. Please ask us about any precautions you might need to take - the worst thing right now are the taxi drivers overcharging visiting gringos (see below for rates). We as well have maps and info of almost any place in Belize and some info on the coastal in Mexico. Combination padlocks are on all the gates for acce in & out for our overnight visitors. A doorbell is as well next to the gate. We have contracted to add a pay telephone on the property soon. Skype VOIP is offered now for telephone Calls. We as well plan to add little Cabins, and a screened room with hammock beds. Free (RJ-45) Ethernet or Wirele (802.11b&g) web access is now offered on the property for overnight visitors and we have a desktop computer for your use if you don't have a notebook pc or pocket pc with you. We are situated on the Nothern Highway (150 yds. from the Corozal Airstrip) in a mostly English speaking vicinity about 1 mile south of Corozal town and 9 miles south of the Mexican border nearby Chetumal, Q.Roo, Mexico; between Mile Markers 82 & 83. Bus and Taxi service readily offered out front. Bus and Taxi's from Corozal town Bus Station to HummingbirdHide-A-Way in Ranchito Village (apx. 2 miles) cost $1-$8BZD max.! - Taxi's are $2-$5BZD average to Ranchito! Ask before you get in- then fu with them if it is more than $8BZ($4US) for a union taxi, if not walk away there are plenty of taxi's (green license plates), non-union taxi's do not have a seal on them and charge $2 per person to Ranchito from Corozal if they are caught on the Northern Highway. Almost all buses from Mexico come south through Ranchito if they say Belize or Orange Walk in the window. If your not sure, ask if they stop in Ranchito, it is only $1BZ more if they drop you out in front of Hummingbird Hide-A-Way instead fo Corozal town you just need to stay on the bus at the stop in Corozal town. Buses do run after dark and have later runs on Friday's and Saturday's. They start around 5-6 A.M. The big Expre Buses cost a little more but only stop in main towns, not in villages 'as a rule' exceptions are Hotels. Remind the young man who helps the driver where you need off the bus ('near the Corozal Airstrip'), they are very helpful. This is Belize and no one pays much attention to the time (or day for that matter) they are only in a hurry when behind the wheel of a vehicle, or lunch break (12-1) if you keep this in mind you won't get stre ed nor hit near a vehicle. Watch out for those bikes too they obey no traffic laws! Bus sevice south to Orange Walk & Belize town and north to Corozal town and Chetumal, Mexico is offered out front. If you arrive after the gates are closed just ring the doorbell. ATM machine acce ible at The Belize Bank in Corozal town, Orange Walk town, Belize town, San Pedro & Belmopan. Belize has the longest barrier reef in the western hemisphere; the second largest rain forest, eco-preserved; the Mayan Empire ruins; the most striking beach / seaes; shopping, caveing, canoeing, snorkelling, scuba diving, sport fishing, hilking and walking, bird watching, camping, viewing of exotic animals in their natural habitat, island hopping or just unwinding.
