The Charleston inspired purple dre ed " lady" looking over while you sign the register wishes you a middley welcome. Your luggage will be taken to your bedroom near one of our well railed porters after having served you a welcoming drink of muscadel, a grape selection which Montagu became famous for over the years. This was incidentally the first grape selection planted in the Cape near Jan van Riebeeck in 1652 after his arrival. Our cla ic rooms, although somewhat littleer than our lavishness rooms are creations of extreme comfort for our visitors. Gay colours usual of the Art Deco period are being used and every room is furnished with a striking Art Deco dre ing table and fabrics of that period. Most cla ic rooms are in the main hotel. The non-smoking lounge is an airy room which flows out onto the roomy wooden deck at the front of the hotel. From the deck one has the most striking view of the rugged mountains lovingly cradling the village. Pa ing through the non-smokers lounge, one finds the smoking vicinity and pub with its Masterpiece counter. The pub, "Dog and Trumpet", is named after the famous HIS MASTERS VOICE gramotelephone label. Few people know the significance of the little Jack Ru ell doggy sitting in front of the wax gramotelephone, listening to HIS MASTERS VOICE when the master did not return from war. |
