Just 10 few minutes from Rutherglen, 53kms from Albury (40 minute drive) and only a 3 ½ hour drive from Melbourne, Corowa is a striking town on the banks of the Murray River, very close to some of the best wineries in Australia (and quite po ibly the world). Built in 1870 the Star Hotel has been restored and refurbished yet has maintained some of the charm of the era. located above the hotel bar, there are a selection of rooms on offer which includes double, twin or triple share. Each room has tea/coffee making amenities, most rooms have a Television and there is a shared Refrigerator is at the end of the hall. There are shared bathroom amenities at the end of the hall (female and male). There is a launderette just 100 meters down the street from the hotel. A light breakfast (cereal and toast) is included in the room rate. Meals are offered at very realistic prices and a Barbeque is offered for all visitors to use in the beer grounds or on the terrace. The Star Hotel has two bars, a pool table, dartboard, jukebox, gaming machines for entertainment; often live bands play. There are many events during the year in Corowa, such as the Federation Festival in January, Billycart (soapbox) races at Easter and several picnic races throughout the year |
